Testimonials of God's Love and Grace
On the way to the hospital in a panic over my daughter's
health. I began to pray and reached out to my
pastor. I knew that the pastor would send a text
out to dozens of fellow Christians, yet I continued to
fret and panic over the news the doctor's had to bring
... a world of possibilities and none of them good.
Then about 15 minutes later - without any additional
news from the medical field - a peace that could have
only come from God washed over me and I KNEW it was
going to be all right. And it was! God is
faithful!
All the tests indicated there was
a blockage ... I was already older than the age other
family members had died at. Was I scared - you
betcha! Was anointed at church - this was a
special service and not one planned for me - you have to
love God's timing. Went in for the stents ...
doctor couldn't find anything - even though he looked
twice! Praise the Lord!
Life lessons while feeding the
birds.
On Saturday my daughter and I tossed some stale chips underneath a tree in the back yard. Sunday morning the birds were busy clearing the ground up. Picking her up I showed her the birds and reminded her of the chips we had tossed the day before and then my wife read Matthew 6:25-27 and showed her how she had been doing God's work by feeding the birds and that God can be found in everything we do.
It can be difficult at times to help a child see the hand of God in
their life. But when God gives a moment to show you how He can
work it will raise your spirit for weeks to come.
In this case, my six year old daughter had been practicing a small part of a song she was going to perform on a future Sunday. Praise Team practice was over and she was pleading to go over the song one more time, but since the scheduled performance wasn't for a few weeks and it was late the group told her no. Seeing she was disappointed I told her the we would hear it at some point in the next few days on the Christian radio station. She was "ok" with that answer and we prepared to leave church. That is when God showed His love for her. The very first song on the radio as we pulled out of the church parking lot that night was the one we had been practicing ... God You Reign by Lincoln Brewster. The smile on her face when I pointed out to her what God had just done for her is beyond description. Her shout of "Thank you God!" is one that brought tears to my eyes and my praise to the Father rose with hers as we sang together. God is glorious, so glorious that it is hard sometimes to fathom it ... but if we pay attention He will remind us. God You Reign!
It started with a phone call. A friend with a truck that
wouldn't start needed help and could I come over and lend a hand.
Sure.
Arriving at my friends house I found him out with an old beat up truck trying to start it. Taking a look at things finally brought the realization that the ignition switch was the problem ... in truth the key was too old and worn to turn the tumblers. It was also the only key to the truck. Now what? An inspiration that could only be the hand of God hit me and taking a paper clip, I unfolded it and laid it along the top of the key. Inserting the key and the paper clip into the ignition together I gave the key a gentle turn and was nearly knocked flat with shock when the truck started!! Some of God's best acts are the most practical events you will ever see.
"In WWII I was deployed overseas as an officer in the armed forces.
One day a group of us needed to run up the road ... heading through
active territory. Officers and enlisted service members have
specific seat assignments when traveling together on road, but one
of the enlisted men headed up the road with the group had recently
been wounded in the leg and needed to prop his leg up. I gave
up my normal spot so that he could be more comfortable. Along
the road we ran into an enemy tank.
I was the only survivor. Had I been where I was supposed to be I would have died that day, but I believe that God moved me out of my normal patterns to save my life. This is one of many times that God's hand reached out and saved me from death. Since God has chosen to keep me alive I know I have work to do for Him and that knowledge has driven me to do the various activities, projects or other labors that God has brought my direction to further the Kingdom of God." As relayed to me by a dear man of God who has since gone on to his reward in heaven after seeing children, grand children and great grand children grow into Children of God.
A wet road, a hill and on coming traffic are bad enough. Add a
speeding car and you have a recipe for disaster. By all rights
I should have died. The firemen said so and the police agreed
... but I didn't. Instead the car folded around me like a
protective glove - shielding me from the additional trees I hit.
I cannot say I walked away without a scratch, but I walked away and
that is more than enough for me to Praise Jesus every day!
My husband and I had been struggling with our inability to have a
child for a few years. I had recently accepted Jesus as my
Lord and Savior and was personally struggling with my husbands
apparently complete indifference to Christ. During one Sunday
service I went forward to kneel at the alter and was praying.
I do not remember everything I said during that prayer session, but
I will never forget the moment when I prayed for my husband to be
saved and for us to have a child.
The next three years sent me MANY moments when I regretted putting in that order ... I really, really wanted a child!! But my husband was still reluctant to discuss the subject of Christ. Oh, we had conversations - never arguments - but they never really went anywhere if you know what I mean. Yet even during my moments of regret for putting it in that order, I knew that it would be better for the child if both of its parents where devoted Christians. I also knew that my husband would come to Christ when it was time and not a moment sooner. It was on a vacation trip that my husband told me about a discussion he had had with a co-worker. I was flabbergasted and thrilled, my husband had opened up to Christ - had accepted Christ! It has only been recently - years later - that I realized that I was never intended to be the one who "led him to Christ" ... God did it without me and perhaps in spite of me. This change brought a whole new level of intimacy to our marriage. It was and is wonderful! God didn't quite take three more years to give us our child, but instead He held our hands as we went through various stages - including being told that the odds of us ever having a child was highly unlikely. So, after being told we basically couldn't have children without medical intervention and telling the doctor that we personally were not being directed by God to undergo that type of intervention, God brought me to the point where I was finally able to accept that God's will would be whatever it would be. I learned to be content with our child free state. Six months later I was pregnant. That December I delivered a healthy baby girl. All total it was approximately an eight year journey that taught me to be specific in my prayers and TRY to realize that God works on His time schedule according to His plan and I might as well enjoy the ride because fretting over it won't change a thing. Mind you, I still fret, worry and fuss - I'm only human - but I'd like to think I do it a lot less than I used to. I know I get more opportunities to enjoy the view on this ride when I leave the heavy lifting in His hands. |
